Lucky! You never realize how much you're paying in sales tax until you buy something that's expensive. We bought a new TV down here a few months ago, and it was so much cheaper simply because we didn't have to pay sales tax!

My favorite purse brand is Cole Haan... of course... I only get what I "need"

Larger purse/bag I can put a folder size object in... right now I'm carrying around my knitting in it
Small purse for everyday use. (just big enough to hold wallet, lipstick, phone, touch, and keys)
And black clutch for "dressing up and going out"

We all will real soon. Even us in Oregon with no sales tax now, will know real soon But I'm o.k with that, I think its a fairer tax. You buy stuff you really can't afford you still pay a tax on it. Hey I know this is totally off topic, but is the sales tax you pay tax deductible

I swoon for flip flops and purses, and some shoes (but not all lol).

Yeah it's kinda silly which is why I'll just pay the rest of the balance when I get my paycheck next Friday.

Nope. I would have a zillion receipts for sales tax. It's just a tax that pays for roads and libraries and stuff.

It varies by state. In AL you can deduct sales tax but people rarely do unless you buy a large vehicle or something to that effect...you either take a sales tax deduction or something I can't remember, and that something is always larger for us...

What the sales tax pays for varies from county to county in AL. In Madison County, where I live, it is 4% state/4% county (which includes more than just county, like city plus county) for 8% total. In some counties it is 9%, where the extra 1% goes to education. If I shop in the county I only pay 5.5% sales tax, because the city is not getting the extra revenue.

I LOVE pocketbooks and switch them out almost everyday. But, I don't care about name brand or quality and I rarely pay more than $14 or so for the bags I buy.

I did splurge once at a Coach outlet for a red leather wristlet. It was on sale for 60% off, then another 20% for shopping a certain day/time. I still paid $42 for it. It's tiny and holds my phone, license, debit card and some cash. Looks similar to this, but red leather.
