Hey everybody,

This being my first "real" post I hope I get the form correct. I wanted to know if my Riley has a chance of keeping her beautiful green eyes? Shes 8 weeks old now and they are the greatest shade of jade! What do you all think?

Kona's eyes were a gorgeous shade of blue/green when we got her at 8 weeks.
She kept a varying shade of them up until she was 5-6 months old. Now she has beautiful burnt gold eyes.

Here's a couple pictures to describe.
(excuse the size)

8 weeks old

9 weeks old.

10 weeks old. See how they're getting lighter already?

About 5ish months old. Almost no green.

1 year old.

And now. She's almost 2. Her eyes darkened a lot.
But they're still gorgeous.

I hope this helped. :)

I posted this question before & found that labs are like kids that their eyes change color as they grow, some not as much as others, but still interesting.
Bailey had the prettiest blue eyes when we brought her home, but now at 10 months they have turned hazel/brown, still pretty.

The lighter the eyes are as a pup, the lighter they will be as an adult. They will not stay blue/green. They will eventuall turn yellow. A pup with very light blue/green eyes will end up being an adult with light gold yellow eyes.

Perfectly acceptable for a pet and very mesmerizing...

Dark eye is preferred for showing however.

Yes as others said no they will not stay green. Chocolates and Dudley yellows (yellows with pink/brown noses and lips and pigment) have green or blue eyes as puppies. They all change at some point - typically around 3 - 4 months but sometimes up until 18 months of age. Yes very light green eyes as a pup often means "yellow" eyes as an adult. Blue eyes often mean a medium brown/amber. I use "often" because it can be up to the individual.

Ginger's eyes look more yellow to me in her older photo. They will continue to change until they are no longer green at all.

As CYNLABS mentioned a medium brown/amber color eye is preferred for the Labrador retriever. That said chocolates in general have lighter eyes than blacks or yellows.

I'd love to see a picture.

Have you googled it yet? There's gotta be something out there that tells about eye color.
I want to say they stay the same, but I've been wrong many times about many things.....
