concerned with excessive drooling

last night around 8p.m. i noticed my 3yr old lab was drooling profusely, i mean strains of drool were dripping
from his lips creating puddles on the floor. I instantly researched online to see what would be causing this craziness. I immediately checked his mouth for broken teeth, swollen gums, tongue, and glands. Couldn't find a thing. This lasted well into the night, and he didn't change his behavior, but i gave him a canine aspirin just in case he was in pain. Today has been a completely different story no drool to be found. I planning to call the vet to check him out, has anyone else had weird episodes of drool?

OH YES.

Rhys gets it all the time, especially after he's had ice, cold water or snow.

As far as my vet tells me there's nothing 'wrong' its just something that happens. But its so gross.

Same here, not so much this time of year (but it has happened). Happens a lot in the winter! Bauer knows it isn't right, and he kind of gets upset by it, which is sad. I will usually tie a bandana around his neck to keep his neck and chest dry, but I haven't found anything that makes it stop. It is just a waiting game.

Wyatt had that last week after the trainer was over. We used a lot of kibble as treats and I think one got stuck someplace. I felt around but couldn't find it. Once it disolved the drooling stopped. I think these guys eat so much you never know what is happening!

Yes -- every few months or so, either Gin or Aila will have a drooling episode - keeps dripping like a leaky faucet. I check their mouths, gums, teeth - usually can't find anything. By morning, they are usually fine, completely dry ... weird.

Wow! well... i feel a lil' better knowing I'm not the only one with a leaky faucet of a dog! lol. Just got back from the vet and he said Kade is 100% healthy from his teeth to his toes! He did say that he could have gotten too close to a toad, they have a poison that they will spray if the toad is startled. (I have seen one hoping on our deck sometimes in the morning) Or a spider! You just never know!

Hunter, 2 years old, is a drooling machine. Its disgusting. He drools the most when food is around which makes sense. I have dog drool all over the house, thank goodness we have leather couches that can be wiped clean. Same can't be said about my upholstery in my van.
