I got the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D

She called and left me a VM while I was at work, so I checked it when I got out. She said the job is mine if I want it, that she wouldn't be in the next day and that she'll call me Friday to figure everything out.

I'm bummed that I won't be going to Texas over 4th of July, but in the end, this is the RIGHT thing to do for me. I wonder if I'll be able to put my 2 weeks notice in at my current place... *evil grin* ;)

What are your hours going to be there? Can you leave the other place right away?

When you give your notice at the hell-hole, do it at the end of your shift and make sure you get out of there as fast as you can, so you don't end up with a hypodermic in your back!

LOL Jackie. I'm not sure of all the particulars until Friday when I talk to her again. She said she wasn't sure how many hours she can give me until things pick up again, and a lot of it depends on the weather.. we've had crappy weather so far, so not that many people have been going on vacation and kenneling their dogs there.

If she can promise me at least 20 hours a week (about what I get at the current place), I'll put in my 2 weeks notice immediately. If not, then I'll probably work at both :)() until things pick up at the new place.

About this two week notice, sad story, fake tears, etc. Seriously, that is all really not appropriate. Unless the business and people are family, then everything goes.

You have a job, you do the job, you get paid. Everybody is even. You work for them at the mutual will of each side. Either side can say no, and the job ends. As I understand the history, you haven't enjoyed the job because it is cats only, AND because they have not treated you well.

There is no requirement to give two weeks notice, or even an hour. It is a courtesy that you may choose to extend. There are cases where employees politely provide notice and the employer promptly says, 'Thank you, please leave immediately.' and escorts you out the door. If you want to leave on a positive note, a possible future reference, a possible return, then give notice by all means. But if you were really treated poorly, have no intent of ever returning, nor of asking for a reference, give a short notice, a week, a few days, and be clear that you are leaving because of the way you were treated.

With that said, a conflicting viewpoint. Don't burn your bridges.

AND FINALLY! Congratulations! I hope it works out well for you.
