I was brushing Apollo last night and he rolled over onto his back I was brushing his chest when I noticed a HUGE patch of thinning/balding hair! This is the only part of his body that is losing fur. He doesn't seem itchy, dry, red, or irritated in this area. Is this because of the shedding or could it be something like mange? I'm just a paranoid doggy mamma. I wanna make sure my boy is ok. Another thought. Could this be from laying in his urine (he pees and then lays submissivly in his urine) like from ammonia burns?!?!? Its in a weird spot though for it to be that, its on the part of his chest right under his white spot. Help me out guys, should I be worried? whats up with this???

Well, Apollo has a LOT more hair on his chest then my dogs do!

One of my boys is particularly sparse under there. He looks almost bald in the summer months.

Unless the skin looks red or inflamed I wouldn't worry at all. You may find that he is losing the fur before the warmer summer months. One of the ways a dog can cool down quickly is through the abdomen/chest area.

Dexter has a 3" strip of baldness down the center of his chest. The pink skin there is so soft. He's yellow though, so unless you know it's there, it doesn't really show.

Eddie is thin like that in spots too. I don't worry about it though unless it is irritated, I figure he is going to be cooler without all the hair!

He's probably blowing his undercoat. Have you been finding more hair around lately? Like on the floor, on the walls, in the light fixtures, in the refrigerator, ice cube trays, drawers, lungs, etc.?

lol no...there isn't hair here. what are you talking about? (lol) I have always had a black carpet. Oh...wait...never mind...my carpet just recently went black...it USED to be tan. lol do you think I have a dog-hair problem? lol.

I use the zoom groom EVERYNIGHT the hair just keeps falling out. I vacuum daily and my vacuum just exploded (literally) from all the hair (sobbing) lol. I am NOT looking forward to when the cats and weasels start blowing their coats as well!

Crimeny! When will it end!!!
