I won't even pretend to know what I am doing. I want to get a web cam and download Skype.
What do I need to do? I want a quality set up?

If you want good quality, the Microsoft LifeCam's are real nice and easy to set up... You can get them at Sam's Club for around 60 bucks.

I use Skype all the time to talk to family back in the UK.

Having downloaded Skype, I found it was fairly straight forward to link up the camera. I have a relatively cheap microsoft camera and the picture is good.

I think that one you've picked looks good but I'm no expert!

You should just be able to download Skype then. Of course your folks have to have it too. My brother's children just bought them a new computer with Skype and they are REALLY enjoying seeing the grandchildren on it!!

Just to let you know, you don't need to wait for a camera to download and use Skype. It works as a voice phone and instant messaging too. Of course the video call is the most fun.
