On my drive back from our usual morning hike, Shelby threw up, it was bile with some foxtails she munched on....As soon as she got out of the car she went straight for the grass to munch on some and threw up again (this time all grass) she continued to eat the grass like crazy and threw it up again. I then put her in the backyard where there is no grass....cement and rock, she kept pacing and doing the vomit motion but not actually vomiting, after about 15 min brought her back into the house, she settled down and layed on the couch while i got ready for work. I put her in the crate and went to work, when i came home 4 hrs later she had vomited in the crate...grass. She did fine the rest of the day, i kept her from eating/drinking. I took her for a walk around 9pm, she pooped (normal looking), i gave her a little bit of water when we got back and seemed to be ok other than being restless, so we went outside and she immediatly went for the grass to eat some, but did not vomit, came back inside and settled down for a bit.

Around 11pm she started being restless again and doing the vomit motion, so outside we went, her going straight for the grass, obsessively, she could not get enough, which of course turned into vomiting. I finally remembered reading something about Pepto Bismol for dogs, so i went to get some, gave some to her and she settled down for the night, she slept until 615 and brought me a toy, so i got up with her and went for a walk, she did fine, pooped/peed, gave her a small amount of water when we returned which led again to her doing the vomit motions and restlessness, so outside we go and we repeat the cycle of grass eating and vomiting.

So, at this point i'm not sure what to do, she is having no other obvious symptons, she has been her usual self during all this except for yesterday she seemed pretty mellow but not lethargic, right now as i am trying to type all this she keeps bringing me toys and wanting to play.

Since this has been going on for 24hrs, do i take her to the vet? Do i let her keep eating the grass?

thanks in advance for your responses

Gosh I don't think I have any advice. I Googled Foxtails and dogs ingesting them and found this (not sure what to believe on the internet and I am not familiar with this site):

Swallowed foxtail seeds lodged in the throat will cause symptoms of an inflamed sore throat. A dog will swallow repeatedly, gulp, cough and gag. Even if the barbed seeds can be detected on examination, the dog will need to be sedated to relax the throat muscles so a veterinarian can grasp the seeds and remove them.

Maybe a vet visit wouldn't be a bad idea if she isn't getting better.
