I know labs are comfortable in a larger range of temperatures than people are, what would be the okay temp to set the thermostat at during the day when no one is home? I don't want her to be uncomfortable at all, but it would be nice not to have to spend as much on energy every month...

How warm do you think it is okay to let is get in the house in the summer? And how cool do you think it is okay to let it get in the winter? Thanks!

I don't even think about it is the winter. Thermostat is set to 50 when we are out and at night. Never gets that cool in the house, but HK would just ball up and go to sleep anyway.

We have it set to 90 when we are out during the summer. I honestly don't think it bothers her, at least she has never given me that impression.

In the summer I have my thermostat set at 78-80 during the day and make sure Buck has access to cooler parts of the house (no direct sunlight). Or if he is crated I keep him crated in an area away from any direct sunlight with access to water. He rarely drinks water when I am not home anyways.

Mitzi pants as soon as it goes above 68. I have the AC set on 68 when I'm away, but just in one room. In the winter, the house is about 60.

Our two are abused - we don't have central air

We do have an AC unit in each bedroom, and I leave it on 77 during the day when it's above 80, if it's 80 or cooler out we just open the windows.

If he's hot Jake has access to the cool bathroom tiles, or he'll often lay in the hallway where it's cooler.

I set my A/C at 75 pretty much all the time. I keep the blinds closed too so it stays cooler.

I've never even thought about it. I always just make sure the dog isn't being worked too hard in the hotter weather and always has plenty of water to drink. In the winter we keep our house around 20°C ... its comfortable for us so I imagine its comfortable for the pets.

We don't have central air but do have a water evap cooler. It helps to put some humidity in the house. The desert SW is very dry and hot in the summer. We have ceiling fans in every room and lots of tile on the floors. We also keep the windows and patio door open most of the time to let the air circulate. The girls both seem quite comfortable and lay on the tile (much cooler) when they are warm. In winter we keep the house at 68 during the day and down to 64 at night. The girls drink lots of water because we have such low humidity year round. (So do the humans).

No AC here, in the summer if it's going to be a warm day, we leave some fans on. In the winter, I don't pay attention to the temps in regards to the dogs. Even if I turned the temps down, they'd still be warm enough.

I never worried about this at all. I think the dogs could happily deal with warmer than I like it and colder as well.

I would not leave a Lab outdoors in the sun as I would think that would evalate their temperature excessively - but indoors in most climates they should be fine.
