Saw this on the Discovery channel waaaaay back...

Everyone has a blind spot in each eye. You don't notice it because the input from your other eye fills in the blank spot.

Sit looking straight ahead. Close your left eye. Extending your pointer finger on your right hand slowly bring your hand across your face directly in front of your right eye from right to left. At some point (mine is slightly to the right of center) the tip of your finger will disappear!

If you can't get that to work I found a couple of websites that have different tests to prove the same thing:

The blind spot in each eye is where all the nerve fibers come together and exit the eye ball forming an optic nerve. It's kind of like the spot of the drain in a bath tub. At that point there are no visual receptors.
