A couple more strides and the Kentucky Derby winner "Mine That Bird" would have won the Preakness too. A bit of bad luck as he got trapped for a moment before making his run, but what a horse! He sailed past most of the field again and was so close to taking the second leg. The filly that won was lovely, but I was kind of rooting for Mine That Bird.

So exciting!!

I was at the Derby and it was incredible :) One year I want to do all three. That will have to wait until I don't have final exams in May though.

I wish Rachel Alexandra had been in the Derby, I bet she would've won there too. I was happy to see a filly win it!

Cool beans - I was rooting for Mine That Bird, but he just had the wrong jockey, I guess.

From what I understand, the filly, Rachel, had the worst pole position, not sure what position MTB had. It'd be interesting to see them head to head without so much disparity in starting position and also without the obvious impediment of the other traffic.

Sea Biscuit and War Admiral style :) I like that.

I was especially interested that Borel said she didn't like the track, that she was struggling in it. That made me think if they were back in Kentucky on Derby Day, she would've won that too (she really ran away with the Oaks, what did she win by - 18 lengths?).

I'm excited for the Belmont! I think we're going to pack a picnic and go up for the day.

Mine That Bird is a gelding, isn't he?

If so, too bad. Otherwise, the offspring of RA and MTB would have some great genes, wouldn't they?
