Very nice! Our Doc's for the most part are really great people, freq. they will buy pizza or coffee for all the staff. Especially on a really bad day, its a nice gesture and always appreciated.

Hey Theresa, what's your job at the hospital?

I applied to be a HUC in the ICU and after I finish my CNA class, I am guaranteed the job. (This hospital wants their HUCs CNA certified). The job is part time right now so I'm going to work as a food service aid (since I have food experience too) to get more hours.

I wear many hats, Laurie, lol!

1) I work in Health Records, doing chart & file maintenance, and all that entails. Releasing charts to specialists & for legal reasons, maintaining records for the hospital, ER, and various Government Depts housed in our facility, such as the provincial mental health board... always interesting.

2) I am a diagnostics & blood collection clerk as well as a clerk for the Medical Day Clinic Unit

3) main main job is an ER registraton & Ward Clerk (I say "main" as that is where I am placed most frequently) and this is my favourite position. I love the pace.

I am waiting to hear back on an interview I just had to work in our city's main OR. This is pretty exciting, the OR appeals to me even more than the ER, I think!

I am a casual employee so that I don't have to commit to working a rotating shift (I pick when I want to work & where) as it allows me to work around my family's schedule without having toask for time off. I don't get benefits, but I don't need them, as Steve's work covers all of that. And, Casual's make more $ per hour, and we are NS government workers union, so that is pretty sweet. :)

Good luck, Laurie, I bet you will love working in healthcare.
