Last night, I'd just put down Puff's supper and she'd begun eating it when I realized I was out of bean sprouts for the stir fry I was making for my supper.

So I grabbed my jacket and keys and headed for the door to get to the car.

Without a word or signal from me, Puff left her supper bowl that she'd only taken maybe 3 bites from and was at my side going out the door.

Puff L - ♥ - V - E - S riding with me in the car.

At our house, Rush and Boo do it like this. Food, food, snacks, food, food and somewhere after all that then riding, walking whatever. Bless sweet Puff for wanting to go with you.

Cute! I had a vision of her getting her coat and gloves on as she went!!

Eddie will leave his food if I leave the room while he is eating. When he finds out where I have gone he goes back to his bowl......... but they would both leave their food if they could go out in the car!

Sounds like Puff has her priorities right, she wanted to be with her dad!

I miss that. Shadow used to be like that, going in the car was the bestest thing ever. The funniest part was, the minute she got in, she hopped up on the back bench seat and fell asleep!

The boys do not like riding in the car unless they are going to the park - which is five minutes from the house. Any further and they are whining and pacing the entire time. Leave their food to ride? Not a snowball's chance in someplace really, really hot!

I keep the back of the front passenger side seat in my Honda Accord coupe fully reclined and Puff usually parks her butt about halfway up that, her front legs splayed on the seat cushion to handle turns and stops. She intently watches the road as if she's my copilot (or driving instructor!!). On longer trips, occasionally she hops into the back seat and either reclines there or sits up and back seat drives.

On much longer trips (over an hour), she alternates between reclining on the front seat back while watching me or curling up tight in her Coiled-C position but often with her head resting on the console between the seats.

Puff definitely does NOT like being separated from me so the comments raising that as a possibility rather than just the dinner vs. the car ride have a valid point. Probably I'd have to be identical twins to test out that as a factor.

I think PJ would leave her food to go for a ride. But Rosie never would. That puppy lives to eat! She jumps 2 feet off the floor waiting for her food.

Wow. I could catch fire and run screaming around the house, engulfed in a ball of flame, and Theo wouldn't look up from his dinner dish.
