Southern Ontario Members- need help with a rehoming issue

Hi everyone, it has been a while since I've been on. My life has been a bit of a soap opera of late and time has been very occupied just trying to sort through my hell. Well as a result of this all I have to rehome one of my puppers......I am hoping temporarily. I have already called the breeder and she has taken my number and if anyone calls her looking for a dog rather than puppy she will give my info so I am trying to do this down here. My next step is to work with our local lab rescue but I have not heard great things about them so I wanted to try this route first.

I was wondering if any of our members in this area are possibly looking to add to their family or know of someone who is OR if anyone can help me by taking Finnigan until October/November when I may be able to take him back or will know more about whats happening in my future and be able tomake a bter/more appropriate decision for Finn's best interest.

This has been a very agonizing decision for me to have to make especially since I had to choose between my two furbabies. I have been trying so hard to keep them both but right now it is difficult to do. If anyone can help or has other suggestions on what I can do please feel free to pm me or throw them out on the board.

Thanks for any help anyone can give
Sharon

yep alberta is a bitfar from ontario. I guess I should say I'm willing to drive to someone if need be......hey Kelli -ready for #3?
Oh Sharon!! :(

I'm sorry you have to go through this... if I didn't already have two monkey boys, I'd have gladly helped you out.

How old is Finnegan again? I have a friend up your way who has three dogs already, but an acre of property. Give me his deets and I'll see what I can do.

(((((HUGS)))))
I'm so sorry I really know how difficult that decision is as we've had to make the same one with Mocha here recently. I hope you are able to find a solution that works for you and the pupper.

Ha! Yeah right...

Have you talked to LRRO? (Lab Retriever Rescue of Ontario?)

I've been working with Joan and she seems nice.. they're the ones paying for Koda's surgery.. I can get you a number if you like.
LRRO is my next step - I just thought I'd try here first as I am hoping to make it more temporary for right now and I think LRRO is more permanent. i jsut wish I didn't have to do it at all.

I know how you feel but sometimes it's necessary for their health and happiness and ours. We were very lucky that my parents are keeping Mocha (at least temporarially) so we can still see her. I hope someone on here can help.
I just e-mailed my brother because I know he is looking for a play mate for his dog, but I was hoping to get a little more info about Finnigan, such as age, temperament, etc. My brother is in the Markham area so it isn't even that far from you. I don't want you to get your hopes up too much because I think he was hoping on adding permanently to his doggie family and he would also have to clear it with our mom, he still lives with her right now, but it could be an option.

yes you are lucky your parents are able to take Mocha - part ofthe problem is I may be moving back home (1400kms away temporarily) and two would be too much for my mom's allergies but more so immediatly I am relocating on my own to an apartment and Two labs plus the baby on my own in a second floor apt woudl be alot to handle. My hope is to get into a house within the next year and have them both but right now so much is up in the air - I can only take it a day at a time.

I am not against permanent homing if it is the right home. Finn is 3 years on February 16th. He is a big goofy lovable boy. He is easy going and really adaptable, good with kids, loves to play fetch, loves to cuddle. He listens ok but he will need some obediance work. My ex doesn't see the value of consistancy or obediance for that matter so he is pretty good on recal and basic commands but a bit of consistancy will do wonders - I had planned on woking with him once we were away from the ex.

I am happy to have any potential new owners/fosters meet up with my big guy.

Just wanted to wish you good luck.. I can't imagine how hard that must be!
Oh Sharon, I am so sorry to hear this. If I could help in any way I would love to, but with our two it is already a little too busy. Good thoughts that everything will work out.
I would imagine temp homes are more difficult to find.. I'd take him if i had a fence.. but i don't think i could handle 3 on my own without tossing them outside for 10 minutes to give me a break =)

I'm sorry, Sharon.. talk to Joan though.. find out if she has any ideas for you about finding a temporary foster if that's what you really want.. i'm sure there have been people in your position before who needed some help.
I am so sorry Sharon. I have a city limit where I am but will ask around. My office is full of dog lovers.

Hi Sharon,

Has Finn ever been on his own?
I took Sunshine to Thunder Bay for two weeks last year and he was ok without her but beyond that he has always had Sunhine around.

Two years ago when we left them with a friend overnight when we went to Niagara, I thought Finn would be the 'problem' not settling etc but he was fine - it was Sunny that wouldnt relax. That is why I chose him for rehoming - he will adapt better.

Which end of PA are you at?
Sharon, you can count me in to help transport, if necessary.

I left a message at my friend's house in Georgetown... I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from her. I'll also ask around at our obedience schools next week (Cambridge/KW area).

Hang in there girlie... let me know if there's anything I can do to help!
