Ok I know this should be under Just Loser thread but this gets more traffic.

If I just eat SB foods will I lose weight or do I have to do the 2wk sugarless bootcamp?? I did that once but didn't lose a pound

I have bought the packaged meals and I can eat those. What are the other foods I should be eating to lose??

here's a site that tells you a lot of the foods you should and should not eat.

haven't done this diet so i'm not sure if you have to go through the 2 week bootcamp.
Dan's the expert here. I've done it and yes we did the first two weeks no carbs no sugar. It works to get you jump started. I'm not a fan of diets but I like this one because it really is a healthy way to eat. fruits, veggies, whole grains, protein. That's basically it. We actually started back in again last week cause we were bad over the holidays. They have some really good recipes too.
I would do the 2-wk Purge.

In fact, I DID the 2-wk Purge. It's not easy. But I found it helpful. And no, I don't think I lost any weight during it, either.

The point is to re-wire your metabolism away from all the carbo-loading. As far as I know (and admittedly, it's been a long while since I read the SB book), you're re-jigging your body's response to sugar and its processing. Trying to re-train it from the low swoops that have you craving those donuts and Girls Scout Cookies to the high-highs that provide a short energy boost but that actually leave you in worse shape afterward.

The Purge, IIRC, also starts the process of cranking up your metabolism, enabling you to burn through what you eat more easily. Also acclimates you to high-fiber stuff, which offsets any sugars you are ingesting.

The Purge was the toughest part of SB (I really missed the fruit!!). And take that comment from a veteran dieter who failed and failed and failed again. But it ends, and then you can GRADUALLY start adding things back slowly.

I'm approaching 3 yrs success at keeping off almost 80lbs. And, other than the Purge, I found the rest of SB AMAZINGLY, INCREDIBLY, SHOCKINGLY easy.

Hang in there. You CAN manage the Purge............

Thanks Dan. I guess I better give away my 3 boxes of Thin Mints I just got yesterday.

Like I said, you have to be dead serious about wanting to lose weight before starting any "program…"
you can have the thin mints on WW. Just not the whole box! ;)

it's all about portion control...and exercise. unfortunately, with fibro; i feel worse after exercise....

Trade 'em in for a new bikini!
Wow Dan, it's been 3 years already?! Kudos to you!!!! :)

TRUE!! I ordered them months ago!!
I have a box of those in my cuby from months ago. There is only one half pack missing. Guess I should throw them out now!

You are right. I am the type of person that has a hard time with "just one" I am better off not eating any to start with!

That is me and I suspect a lot of people as well.

Heres' a little humour my darling wife laid on me this past week.

I was pretty good all through the holidays watching what and how much I ate. I had lost 11 pounds but gained back a few. Stupid me mentioned that I gained back some weight. With out looking up from her laptop Lor responded "Don't be discouraged. Keep your CHINS up."

I love this broad!
HA...did she really? :D

Yes. I suspect she had been waiting a long time to use that on me. She has been battling weight for awhile and I always try to encourage her with sayings like "the weight didn't come on overnight so don't expect to lose it overnight".... you know, stuff like that. Now that I joined the "Holy crap I need to drop some weight club" she had been waiting...........
My doctor recommends the SB diet for her patients. However, she also recommends that you skip the 2 week "boot camp."
