My J-school professor's name is Bill. Bill is married to Pam. Pam is the sister of a very famous Canadian, Kristen French.

When i was in school, we were in the tail-end of all the hoopla with the courts and the media .. my prof was gone quite a bit to handle the PR for the family and i woke up several mornings to watching him appear on Canada AM.
It was a really interesting time to be a student in Journalism and to have a prof who was in the middle of the biggest murder trial ever seen in Canada.
Here's an interesting fact that most people don't know about.
Neil Peart, drummer for Rush, was a friend of the French family. In the song Nobody's Hero, Neil wrote these words about Kristen.
I didn't know the girl, but I knew her family
All their lives were shattered in a nightmare of brutality
They try to carry on, try to bear the agony
Try to hold some faith in the goodness of humanity
As the years went by, we drifted apart
When I heard that she was gone
I felt a shadow cross my heart
I haven't seen the movie, i haven't read the books. Bill never wanted people to give those people recognition and so i've respected his wishes all these years.
He's still teaches at my school, still tells the story of what being on the other side of the pen feels like.
Interesting.
