Hi I bought a show quality black lab female a few months ago and I have no clue on how to get her started showing. I have showed quarter horses since i was 10 but have no clue on the dog shows. I would like to do the confermation with her and also the field trials ( what her parents both have double champions in) HELP!!

There are no living labradors who have show (conformation) championships AND field trial championships ;) Your best tool will be your breeder, being they gave you a show quality girl, they should be there to help. You can also join your local all-breed kennel club and/or local labrador club and ask around for handling classes. Good luck!!

Feel free to PM or email me. I am in the Springs and belong to the Denver lab club. The Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club show is next weekend in Loveland. Labs show at 8AM. You should plan on being there to see how showing labs goes. I can introduce you to some folks up in your area...there is a lady who does handling classes in Longmont, and that would be worth it for you to attend. Google Whispering Pines Pet Resort.

Just curious though, who did you get the pup from? Have you talked to them about mentoring you?

I was hoping you would check this before the weekend. The show in Loveland was good. Jack got a 2nd in his class.

At the end of September, there is our Denver Lab specialty in Littleton, you need to get that on your calendar if you are really interested in showing.

What would the designation in a pedigree look like for a field trial championship? I was looking at a breeders site yesterday and one of her dogs, a conformation champion also was a master hunter. Is the FT designation different?
