hi i have a golden lab that has mange it has made him deteroiate and look terriable
he has been on meds to stop him itching
i just discovered he has a low thyroid, but thats okay now its normal after some meds

whats the best food to feed him ???? i have tried Eukanuba Sensive skin formula it hasnt made much difference

any hints to get this lab to look right?

Personally, I would try a RAW or at least grain free diet. I have seen it make a great real of difference in client's dogs.

We battled Sarcoptic mange and, unfortunately, never found the cause (pulled numerous blood profiles). We never got her mange under control and she didn't respond well to any of the meds (got shocky) so she had to be put down. So happy to hear that your dog pulled thru well! Did they determine the cause of the mange thru standard blood tests?

Also, with this issue, I think you just have to let it run it's course. I this a grain free diet might be a great idea and add oil or omega 3's to diet.

I have a dog with yeast infections, allergies and low thyroid. Not the same as Sarcoptic mange, but not easy to treat. I feed her Royal Canine hyoallergenic as it seems to be better than others. I tried raw and she had a bad flare up with chicken, and beef, so stopped. I live in N.Z. so don't have the range of dry foods that could help.

Good thoughts you can get it under control. It is horrible trying to help them and nothing seems to work.

he has been to a dermatolgist duncan graham i know have a good vet who actually is interestred in treating this mange

Hi. Tessa has an appoiontment to see Duncan. Is he the good vet or you have another one. I have a fabulous vet who really knows his stuff, but Tessa is now beyond what he can do.

hi yes in stratford, bailey has only been to duncan once to be diagnosed in wellingtn
he has a good vet in new ply

Personally I don't like Eukanuba. I would go with the raw as Karen suggested or you could look at Natural Premium Dog Food | Ultra Pet Food. It is a N.Z. food and a few years ago feed it to Erns.

or I hear K9 is good. A clients vet recommended it for their dog with itchy skin.

Tess had a mild case of mange which we seem to have got on top of. It has been the yeast infections which have been very difficult to control. She is on Royal Canine perscription food.
Erns has allergies and I used it for him. It was great, but can't feed him it with his Crohns.
