What is the difference between these two tools for doing a dogs teeth? Buddy, (The fat dog I've had for about 4 months now) does not mind me scrapping his teeth (I have been doing it with a jeweler's screwdriver...very small....yes, crude), but I thought I'd get the real thing. It is disgusting the crap I am getting off his teeth. Ultimately, yes, he'll go to the vet for a real teeth cleaning, but the vet wanted Bud to loose some more weight before he put him under (Bud has a small growth on the gum line also).

I think scalers are just bigger than scrapers so they can probably take off more tartar at once? Scrapers are more for getting the small, delicate stuff next to the gumline, I think. I could be wrong, though.
