After 27 years of commuting in rush hour traffic I thought I had seen it all. But today I learned there is always a moron who will come up with something new.

Today at 4 PM less than a mile from where the 2 major Interstates in Phoenix meet, with 5 lanes of traffic in both directions going 45 MPH a guy was WALKING along the shoulder pushing a shopping cart full of cardboard. He was a good 1/3 of a mile from the entry ramp.

There is also a perfectly good access road that parallels the freeway here that has sidewalks. Signs at each entry ramp that say no pedestrians on the interstate but he strolls on anyway.

I saw a passenger in one of the cars next to me shake her head and dial her cell phone. I am hoping she was calling 911 to get the Highway Patrol or Phoenix Police out to get the guy before someone hit him or caused an accident trying to avoid him.

You should count your blessings that you are not in NJ. That sort of thing is a daily occurrance. No one would bother calling the cops.
And he'd be naked. And mumbling to himself....

I travel the 5 boroughs of NY and New Jersey everyday as part of my job. The crap I've seen is incredible. I saw one young driver traveling 65 MPH, texting ,with a book open on the steering wheel , on the Van Wyck. I know unbelievable! Rarely can you travel 65 on the Van Wyck.

I saw a guy roof surfing on a car on the Cross Bronx. He was in no fear of falling since it crawls at a max speed of 4.3 MPH

BTW,Sex in moving cars is much more common than you think.

Oh man you are so right on this one!! They'd be too busy talking on their cell phones, driving with their knees, holding their Starbucks with one hand & flipping another driver off with the other.

Though I guess I was lucky, I did not encounter anyone like this on my trek down the GSP (Garden State Parkway) to the NJ Turnpike late this morning. I certainly covered enough of it, for that to be possible. All the way from the far north point of the GSP just off the Tappan Zee Bridge to Exit 6A of the Jersey Turnpike.
