After 27 years of commuting in rush hour traffic I thought I had seen it all. But today I learned there is always a moron who will come up with something new.
Today at 4 PM less than a mile from where the 2 major Interstates in Phoenix meet, with 5 lanes of traffic in both directions going 45 MPH a guy was WALKING along the shoulder pushing a shopping cart full of cardboard. He was a good 1/3 of a mile from the entry ramp.
There is also a perfectly good access road that parallels the freeway here that has sidewalks. Signs at each entry ramp that say no pedestrians on the interstate but he strolls on anyway.
I saw a passenger in one of the cars next to me shake her head and dial her cell phone. I am hoping she was calling 911 to get the Highway Patrol or Phoenix Police out to get the guy before someone hit him or caused an accident trying to avoid him.
