Is it appropriate to wear a black dressy top with white pants and do you wear black shoes with it? Business casual? The other alternative is black pants and black top. That seems too black. This is actually an after hours mixer with Chamber of Commerce members at a bar with live music.

It's fine. You can do black shoes, or a pop of colour, like red, royal blue, green, orange, yellow, especially if you have a clutch that has one of those colours in it. You also can't go wrong with a metallic sandal, silver or pewter especially would look great with black & white. =)

I'd go black top-white pants -black shoes maybe patent leather=looks dressy & smart at the same time-matching clutch. Shoes & bag must match. I'd stay away from anything metallic. thats my 2 cents.

I wish I had those shoes! The top I'm wearing is almost the same, but the back is lace. So I did go with the gold shoes, and clutch and gold jewelry. But I like those shoes better than mine!
