My friends mum bought a yellow female from what i believe to be a BYB, who keeps a dog in the shed? Plus breeder wouldnt let them see the parents  but they bought the pup anyway.

The lady wants to breed this girl as she now has her papers  and she wants to breed her with a chocolate...now to my understanding does this produce dudleys? I may be totally wrong

I sent my friend all info on breeding etc and she is with me on this one but apparently its like talking to a brick wall with her mother.:mad:

Oy.

Why does she want to breed her to a chocolate?

If the yellow doesn't carry chocolate and the chocolate dog doesn't carry yellow, she'll have all black puppies.

If the chocolate carries yellow then yes she could/will produced yellows without pigment.

Sounds like the mum is an idiot, you're going to have a hard time convincing her not to breed that dog.

Does she understand that birthing puppies does not always go smoothly and she could wind up with massive vet bills?

:eek::eek: This is how BYB are born. Breeding is best left to those who take the time to educate themselves and do it for the love of the breed and not purely for the money. And any breeder could tell her just how much it really costs to breed a litter of pups. So very sad - keep talking to her and sending her information. :(

Potentially producing dudleys should be the least of concerns. It´s just pigment and eye color. Producing unhealthy dogs is the real problem. I bet these dogs are not cleared for HD, ED, PRA, etc.
