our newest foster dog (an older shihtzhu) who came just before Christmas had his BIG vet appointment today - usually that might be a nueter and one other thing..today's surgery included

eye staining and tear test (yup he has dry eye as well as pigmentation loss and someother old guy eye disorder)
nueter
umbilical hernia repair
removal of 8 cysts (on both sides and all ends of the body - including his tail)
dentistry including removal of 9 teeth
he was out for 2 hours ..
he is home now on his bed shivering under a blankie with his tongue lolling on the blanket ...
poor little dude .. I watch recoveries quite regularly but he is breaking my heart tonight - finally things were ok in his world and I had to whack him with this :(

poor little one. My shiz had a hernia as a puppy and a cherry eye. Lord only knows how many of those type dogs came out of puppy mills. My boy is 13-1/2 and still going strong. Sleeps more soundly these days; but otherwise, I sometimes don't believe he is as old as he is. Hope the same for Aldwin's future!!

Oh poor baby boy. That's alot to take on all at once. Too bad he doesn't realize how much better it is to have everything done at once. Prayers for a speedy recovery and a loving forever home.

he is feeling much better - I was suprised until I came on here to see how many of you were thinking good thoughts for him

he is already itchy - I guess all the shaved spots itch fast and its very funny to watch him mouth and gum his food trying to figure out how to chew .. he is trying to chew a little bit but luckily his teeth aren't working all that well ;) so for now no hood
he slept in bed with us for the first time last night (something house dogs do but fosters don't until they are long term) he liked that quite a bit!
