I think names are very personal and it's hard to put a name on something until you know the personality. You may decide to make a list of favorite girl names and pick from that judging by her personality. In that case I love the name Zia which means ripened grain (yellow in color) Tawnie (again yellow color) and I like the name Edda (pronounced eeda)
There's always Ethyl & Myrtle. :D:D

She's has a light yellow lab. This might be the only time I would say I wish this Friday would go by quicker!

Lucy is easy and catchy...I like it. I originally thought about the name "chewy" but I thought about it more and I don't like it when I hear dog names like (fluffy, angel, marshmellow, etc etc). And I would be putting chewy right into that category.

p.s. no offense if your dog's name is Fluffy.

whatever you chose you can guarantee you will be saying it over and over and over:)
With "No!!" attached to it. ;)

I like nature/wilderness/adventure names for dogs. My choice for Dozer was Scout (and I got vetoed -- which is good because he is definitely a Dozer and not a Scout!) ... What about Kaia (Kyah)? It means Earth. I also like the name Echo. It's on my short list for when we get a female lab in 3 ish years.

Congratulations on finding a yellow baby girl. Zia is the name of an ancient sun symbol of the Zia Pueblo Indian Tribe in Northern New Mexico and is also the Italian word for aunt. It was on my short list of names for our Abbey too. She is a lighter yellow with caramel highlights. We had also considered Sierra, Sunshine, Hannah, Poppy, and Madison. It is a difficult process and we actually worked over a 3 week period (2 before we took them home and one after) to decide on their names. Even if you really like a name it may not "fit" the puppy's personality as Rushpuppy mentioned in a previous post. You might also think about the names in the dam and sire's bloodlines. Sometimes you can get some ideas on names if the breeders have been creative. :) We will anxiously wait for pictures of your new little pup.

I have “Willow” a black lab a.. co worker suggested this one to me after I was looking for a floral name and it just happened to be the street I lived on at the time so it stuck..

Then I have Autumn a chocolate Lab, my wife picked this one after her favorite season and the falling of the leaves…

We have discussed getting a Yellow Lab and the two names we have are “Summer”. and maybe because I am a Bostonian “Fenway” my brother in law stole the Patriots name “Brady” and “Tye” for there labs…lol

In the end go with what feels right for you and your family. I personally do not like “human” names for animals…but something special that goes along with your interest, life, and the dog it's self.

Whatever you choose you will be calling it over and over with a healthy NO….lol ! Good Luck!

By the way the price this forum charges for advice is LOTS of pictures!!
