I'll be intersted to see the reaction on here to this. Weren't many up in arms that MJ was being called a pedophile despite the fact he'd been found not guilty? Per Wikipedia (yes, I know the dangers of relying on/citing to Wikipedia), he was not convicted of anything, just cautioned (though he did claim he technically broke the law). Why is this so different than MJ?

"Townshend was cautioned by the British police in 2003 as part of Operation Ore. Following a news leak that Townshend was among the subjects of the investigation,[27] he publicly stated that on one occasion he had used a credit card to access a website advertising child pornography.[28] Townshend, who had posted essays on his personal website in 2002 as part of his campaign against the widespread availability of child pornography on the internet,[29][30][31][32][33] said that he had entered the site for research purposes and had not downloaded any images.[28][34] A four-month police investigation, including forensic examination of all of his computers, established that Townshend was not in possession of any illegal downloaded images.[35] Instead of pressing charges, the police elected to caution him, stating, "It is not a defence to access these images for research or out of curiosity."[36] In a statement issued by his lawyer, Townshend said, "I accept that I was wrong to access this site, and that by doing so, I broke the law, and I have accepted the caution that the police have given me.""

Haha, I did the same thing (well, Googled and then Wikipedia was the first result). I don't know, his story seems odd, but they didn't find him in possession of any illegal downloaded images according to the article Wikipedia cites. If the police spent four months looking and couldn't find anything I guess they're either incompetent or the guy really wasn't guilty. I'm not sure I'd call him a pedophile.

So he was "caught" in 2003, but I didn't realize he posted publicly in 2002 about the easy access to child porn. I don't know...research? Hmmm....

I know, how many rock stars do you think do research? Then again, he wasn't convicted, and as fun as it is to make fun of all the stupid rock stars they're not all worthless. Maybe he really was trying to help. It's just that giving money, even if for research, to a child porn website doesn't seem like the best way. Either way, I'm sure someone will be here shortly to accuse me of defending pedophiles because I didn't say he should be shot.

Didn't he also say at that the time that he got caught, that he was a victim as a child and that's why he was researching it? Meanwhile, pay for it? I thought most porn was free online. *shrugs*

I would just like to say that the loudest concert I ever attended was The Who with opening acts Billy Squire and Joe King Carasco & the Crowns.

They didn't find a single downloaded child porn picture on his computer and nothing was found in a search of his home. Nobody ever came forward to say he'd ever acted inappropriately around a child, no evidence of trips to places where children are easily accesible to pedophiles.

Obviously if he was doing research for his autobiography, in which he claimed to have been abused as a child, then he made a really poor choice in how he went about it, but I don't think you go around calling people pedophiles unless you've got some real evidence.

To me, because child porn was found on his computer.
I don't know Amy. As much as I want to believe Michael was trying to re-live his youth some things are just odd...

A kid described a particular feature on his tool. He had little boys sleeping over in his room and a camera/alarm at the bedroom door to alert him if anyone was coming. Not sure we needed to know what was on MJ's computer...

^this^ I don't even think you can compare Townsend and MJ- completely different circumstances- with limited or no evidence with Townsend, and many many concerns and evidence with MJ!

Im a HUGE Who fan and I love MJ's music/videos too. They may participate in stuff I dont approve of or I think is wrong but that doesnt mean they arent talented. I can appreciate them for their music. How many movie stars or rock stars are we ever going to know personally? Listen to their music just dont let them babysit your kids.
