I had surgery on my toe today and it really hurts! I don't ever remembering it hurt so much in the past when I've had the same procedure done. Admittedly, I'm a wimp when it comes to pain, but this really sucks. :(

Surgery on your toe???

Feel better soon!
Yeah, I had an ingrown toenail. So not so much surgery as a procedure, but man was it painful by the time I got home. I'm all good now, I downed two extra strength advil and they finally kicked in.
Jason's had to have that done several times. He's prone to ingrown toenails. Ick.
Melissa did you know they are hereditary? So watch Riley's toes. I learned that today. I made an appointment to go back in July for a procedure to end all in grown toenails! It better work.
G
Ow is right! Hope ya feel better!
No I didn't know that! Ack! I have noticed that Riley's toenails grow a little funky.

Jason's toenails drive me nuts. He's afraid to trim them too much because of the ingrowns so I'm scared to death for his feet to get to close to me in the bed! Luckily he's a foot taller than me, so it works out okay! :D

What's the procedure to end them for good?
They go in and do the regular procedure, but then they use some chemical to kill the root of the toenail. It won't grow back, apparently. So you lose a small sliver of your toenail, but the good part is you won't get ingrown toenails anymore. I had it done on my other toe when I was in University and have never had a problem with it since.
Oh Amy!! My toes send your toe sympathy and lots of it. I'm glad you finally went and got it done, I always think of you when I look at my toes lately.

Let me know if you need Tucker taken out to get his ya-yas out.
Ouch!! My Mom has had that done several times.

i had my big toe done three times (twice on the right and once on the left side) and the last time i asked if they could do something different. so they said they could put the chemical to kill the root. well i continued to have to watch how my nail was growing out and would pull off the piece of nail that grew back. finally now after 2 years i don't have to worry about it...but my nail sure looks ugly because they had to cut on both sides. also my sister had it done once and the chemical worked for her. so maybe it works different depending on the person.
Yikes!! I know that has got to hurt! Hope it goes away soon!
It's painful to just read about it! I can't imagine going through it! Hope your feeling better soon!
Oh ouch, I feel your pain. I had a "procedure" done in the ER by a doc about 18 years ago, he said, no worries I'll kill the nail bed and it will never grow back, so he stuck it with a needle a few times and proceeded to rip the big toe nail off, then used a chisel type tool and hammered on the root. Needless to say, I was on demerol for a week, the pain shot right up to my hip, oh well I didn't know my name for a week, couldn't wear a shoe for 3 months, but today I have no feeling in that toe nail area, no toe nail which is one ugly site. But yeah no ingrown toenails. Sure wish they had a chemical to try then. Good luck with your toe.
