I have 3 Carriers here. If they are otherwise breeding quality and healthy, just be sure to use a Clear and you will never produce an Affected pup. This also goes for EIC and CNM.
If you start throwing out every dog who is a carrier for one thing or another, we won't have anyone left! Thinking about it this way--- we've ALL been dealing w/ hip and elbow carriers most likely forever since we have no "gene" test for those and they are likely polygenetic. In that case, we look for depth of clearances in the vertical pedigrees (see OFA database), good history of progeny as well as strong clearances amongst the siblings to heighten our chances of soundness.
