I REALLY want to drop some pounds and I need to find out what I SHOULD eat. I am going to try and give up sugar, bread and fried foods...I know these are bad. I need to know what I should be eating....besides the standard fruit and veggies. So far today for bfast I am having Weight Watcher's yogurt and I brought a salad today for lunch. By this afternoon I will be starving .. I just know it.

Any help would be appreciated. ;)

I don't think you should have to give up anything. As long as you eat in moderation and use portions wisely, you can still enjoy things you like as long as you don't over do it. WW has been great for me understanding that. I actually feel like I am eating more than I was before WW. But it's better choices and things that will benefit my body. I think if you follow a more inclusive eating plan without depriving yourself or eating less, you'll be surprised at the outcome.
Try eating small meals serveal times. I eat at 8 10 12 2 4 6 8 At 8 I have like a bowl of cereal and a fruit at 10 I have a piece of fruit, noon I have a lunch around 250 cals and a salad, at 2 I have a yogurt , at 4 I have a light snack like the 100 cals things, dinner I eat about 250 cals plus veggies and then at 8 I have another fruit. I i'm hungry other wise it's more veggies or yogurt, Plus I try and eat 6 almonds a day for a good fat.
Are you following a plan at all?

My best advice is not to starve yourself. Biggest mistake and you won't stick to your diet.
I followed South Beach for a long time and now when I want to drop some weight I follow the principles of the diet. I don't have to follow word for word..

I would recommend a mid morning snack and an afternoon snack to hold you over and prevent you from overeating when you get home from work.
half and apple with a tablespoon of peanut butter at 10:30 am for example is a great snack and will fill you up until lunch. bring sliced veggies like peppers and cucumbers with a bit of lowfat cheese, cottage cheese or hummus if you like hummus for an afternoon snack. Or pack 10 almonds and a V-8 to snack on around 3:30...
fresh strawberries and some lowfat sugar free vanilla yogurt.
For dinner, have some lean protien and lots of veggies.

Keep on hand sugar free jello snacks to have if you crave a sweet.

Thanks girls... I did bring some celery and peanut butter for my afternoon snack. I will have to make a point of bringing beneficial snacks since I am a "desk jockey" ;D

I think my biggest challege is finding an exercise routine and sticking to it. I have walked this year a few times but with the crazy weather for the last 2 weeks I couldn't. I am starting up again today after work! :D
I agree with everything that the PP have said ... I have not eliminated any category of food from my diet ... I just watch my cooking methods and my portion sizes, and I save dessert for the weekend. I generally try to find a way to bake or grill most foods ... and I make sure that I have a veggie serving with dinner that is just as large as the other items on the plate ... even on pizza-night half the plate is salad. But, for me, exercise is the most important thing. I think my nutrition is actually quite good so, when I see any creep on the scale, I don't have a whole lot of wiggle room to cut calories ... I up the exercise instead. Good luck!!! ;D

P.S. I try really hard not to eat anything out of the package, or on the run. Everything that I eat is from a plate while sitting at a table. I have always been like this ... when I got lax earlier in the year, and started making appetizers for American Idol, etc. ... THAT'S when I put on some quick pounds. Now I watch AI and Sopranos with my water. ;) It stinks that my body gains so easily, but that's unfortunately the case. :p

I eat all day. I munch on carrots and veggie dip during the day; keep chocolate pudding cups and popcorn around, too. Oh and popcorn, although I get tired of it pretty fast.
Eat foods that are high in fiber and protein. These will keep you full MUCH longer than foods that are empty in nutrition.

Foods that WW has taught me to watch out for:
*Peanut butter (huge for me-I love it)
*Mayonnaise
*Ranch dressing/dressings in general

Yup, but you can still do these. I do 2 tbs. of PB on a half of a 100 cal. multigrain english muffin in the morning with my cereal. I do miracle whip lite versus mayo. And I do FF ranch (sometimes) on salads...but only enough to give me 2 points.
Exactly. The good thing about WW is that you don't have to AVOID them, just watch out for them, like I said earlier. However, for me personally, I like to save my points for better stuff, so I usually end up avoiding them.
Well I have been doing great so far this week. Celery, yogurt, mini rice cakes(100 calorie bag), salads, turkey wrap...and water!!

thanks for the imput ;)
