This plant has been in my garden for 2-3 years and has never blossomed. This year? About 25 buds that are beginning to open. Beautiful!

Identify, please?

Please excuse my gangrenous looking hand. ;)

It's beautiful! Looks like a rose of some sort... the stem, the leaves, the opening bud.
But I'm no gardener. Meant to add that.

Nope, no thorns. I don't think it's a rose, either. Even though it closely resembles one.

Good find, Laura.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to paste a picture into the google search and say "What is this?" That would be advanced, wouldn't it? :)

I thought ranunculus, too. They needen't be as full-petaled as the ones you typically see, there are simpler forms. The foliage looks right. They're bulbs, too, and do well when springs are long and cool like I understand it was in the NE this year.

Hmmm, I think it's not full enough to be a ranunculous.
Another vote for some form of ranunculous. But a close up of the leaves, and the inside (stamen, etc.) would help too :) If we get to be picky lol.
