ok fishy peeps (Allie??)*updated with pics and video*

I just went out today and bought myself a new fishy tank (1.5 gallon) and a lovely beta fish (she's in a bowl right now while I give the tank time to settle)

I have 2 questions though (1 is about the filter) It's an in tank filter...here is what it looks like:

1) The little black "lid" at the top of the filter keeps popping up and down, there are a bunch of little bubbles back there, is that supposed to happen?

2) Do I not have enough water in the tank? Is that what is causing the bubbles?

The instructions said not to submerge it, that the "spillway" should be just above the water line. I just poured some water directly into the filter to see if that will help. The lid isn't popping anymore, but there are still quite a few bubbles.

Haha Justine!!
It's a female beta. They didn't have any fun colorful ones. She is white/pinkish with bright red fins and up near her face she has some purple. My friend says I should name her Tequila since her fins reminded her of a tequila sunrise (lol)

No fake seaweed...I probably should get a plant or something though.

It's fake, but I got a silky one not plastic. :)

Now my issue is, I think the current from the filter is too strong for the poor fishy :( Maybe I'm just paranoid lol

Thanks Rosie :)

I thought about it, I didn't know that female betas could be kept together. The man at Petsmart also suggested an african dwarf frog to put in the tank. We'll see how this one goes for now.
