Happened to Hannah the first summer I had her........all four were rubbed raw (running around on a hot tennis court.......oh stupid humommie!)
I was given an antibiotic spray that also deadened pain too I believe (from the vet).....& not "given", trust me.....I had to pay through the nose for it! I think Bactine or neosporin spray would probably do just as well.
I put on baby socks & then dog boots (socks made it harder for them to be pulled off by you-know-who).....& I had to restrict her walks/runs for a few days.
Amazingly, it was on the second day that I could see the leathery stuff was starting to grow back & cover her pads.....so it really only took a few days.
