It's mother's day here in the UK today and along with my obligitory box of

chocolates a bunch of flowers, my son bought me this lovely little Labrador

Retriever lovers address book. It has some reaaly nice photo's inside and a

little factoid on each page. I'll quote a few here:

"It is thought that black, water retrieving dogs were introduced to Canada by Portuguese traders in the 1500's"

"There is a marked similarity between the Portuguese water dog and the Labrador- In Portuguese Labrador translates as Labourer"

"The Fishermen fed their dogs fish scraps in the winter and left them to fend for themselves in summer. This is why the lab is such a good scavenger!"~ see Sarah, that is why Milly got into her food bin, it was in her genes!~lol

"The Lab Retriever was first registered and recognised by the Kennel club of England in 1903. The American KC registered it's first lab in 1917"

"Labradors Salty and Roselle were awarded the PDSA Dickin Medal for gallentry for leading their blind owners to safety following the 9/11 terrorist attack on New York"

There are many more but the final page has this joke, bearing in mind the lab's eager to please character:

"How many dogs does it take to change a lightbulb?"

Lab: "Oh me, me, me!! please let me change the lightbulb! can I?..huh?..Huh!!? "
