Hi, I have been lurking for some time now, but just regestered. I am new here after just rescuing my new puppy from the pound, His name is Ranger and he is about 2 months old and is supposed to be a Lab, although with the patch of white I am thinking a Lab Mix, still he's our character, and the life of the party, His new big brother is Tex, our Golden/Lab who is 9 months old. they both have been having the time of there lives.

Anywho, I am glad to be a part of the forum.

Jim

Hello Jim,

Just wanted to say, you don't have to assume your pup is a mix just because of the white spot. Labs occasionally do have a patch on the chest. The Lab ancestors, St. John's water dogs, seem to have had white on them frequently. Judges just don't like it, but that's not a problem for Ranger. Anyway, he is cute purebred or mixed!

White on chest and toes is a pretty common 'mismark'. Not sure if mismark is the official word,, but it works.
