Ive been wanting a tattoo forever. Its just so permanent that I havent found what I wanted and I wanted to put a lot of thought into what I should get.

This is my first very rough draft. I couldnt find what I wanted so I'm making my own and then having someone with more talent clean it up (I am no artist).
I wanted it to portray my faith, peace, and love.

I'm thinking of a small version on my leg above my ankle.

Thoughts? I'm not sure if I want the outline, the colored in version, or maybe I should simplifiy it a bit.

I like it. I would get the colored in version. Whenever I see a tattoo that is just an outline it looks either like they did it themselves or they ran out of money to get it finished.

How big?

How big would you get it on your leg? Just wouldn't want you to do something you would regret. I keep wanting to get a tatoo but i want something that I can cover up depending on the event. Right above the ankle in the summer might be hard to do that. That's just me though.

It's very pretty! I'm not crazy about peace signs, but that's just a personal preference thing, and I think you've done a great job of tying it into the whole design. It's very cool :)

As for placement, I'm pretty prudish when it comes to that sort of stuff - I'd go for something less visible. But I also wear shorts, dresses and skirts a lot, so something around my ankle would be all up in everyone's business on a pretty regular basis. Actually, I would probably ask the tattoo artist which place hurt the least, then get mine put there!

I like it but I agree with Wendy. I would put it somewhere that if later on you decided, why did I do that (when you are giving a speech at a republican convention) ;) you can cover it up!
I want one on my big toe; probably a sunflower, but I'm skeeeeeeeeeeeerd.

I like it.

Definitely visit a shop and have the artist work with you on it. My brother is a tattoo artist and he does this for people all the time.

If you want to go to Michigan to get it, he has an awesome shop in Lansing, Mi. http://www.fishladdertattoo.com/artist_ej_port.php He's really talented, if I do say so myself. :)

And I have found it doesn't matter where you place it, it hurts the same. I have one just above my ankle and another on my calf, both hurt the same.

My son's GF has a tattoo of the sun on her foot. That requires a whole lot of pain tolerance! She's a strong woman, that one!

I have a small tat on my upper arm that I can hide when I choose. That being said, I too want one above my ankle and was told by my friend who has one on her thigh, on her upper arm, on her chest and above her ankle. She said by far, the ankle one hurt worse. I still want one above my ankle. Just be prepared for a lot of pain!

Get it colored in, with pretty , bright colors- cuz I just love a pretty colored tattoo. There are so many people around here with them, I'm not sure I would be afraid to have one on my ankle, especially since it represents your beliefs that aren't likely to change. I would like to have one, but my husband really hates them, so I don't get one out of consideration for him. If I hated something , I would feel bad if he went ahead and did it anyways because it would show a basic lack of respect for his feelings. But if he goes first - I'm gettin a tat!

I'm with Labby and Maple. I just don't get tattoos.

My DD has one just above her ankle. It is a dove with the date that her Dad died. She said that she wanted something to honor him. I told her he would be turning over in his grave.

This is an incredibly sloppy coloring job, because I can't control my mouse, but what about something like this?

The Cross brown, the heart red, the vines green, and the peace sign more of a gold color.

I agree colored version. I also agree you may want to rethink the ankle. Where I work all tattoos must be covered so some people have to put a band-aide on their hands every day. Others have to wear socks and tennis shoes or cover the tat when they wear dresses on their legs or ankles. It is much easier on the shoulder, butt, upper thigh where covering it is easy.

PS...one of the ladies I work with has multiple small ones and she says she wished she never did her ankle it hurt like a son of a gun.
