I just got notice in the mail today, that an auto accident I was involved in 4 years ago (yes 4 fucking years ago) is still lingering about & it is going to arbitration next month.

It was a very low speed accident, the van he was a passenger in was in front of me merging from one road into another. The van started out & I saw it was clear, so I proceeded... well the van stopped suddenly, causing me to hit him. Considering I was at a complete stop prior to proceeding, I was not doing more than 10 mph. It was clearly not a hard hit because the extent of damage to my car was a cracked hood emblem & some scuffs in the paint and the van had a few scrapes on the rear bumper.

The passenger in the car I hit tried to squeeze my insurance company for $$$ claiming he suffered back injuries. Well my insurance company told him to go pound sand, he wasn't getting anything out of them. So what'd he do... filed a civil claim against me! :surprise: Of course, his attorney claimed everything under the sun & including loss of consorisum for the wife.

I JUST WANT THIS TO GO AWAY!!!!!

Yikes! I would turn it back on your insurance company. Insurance companies suck. They are all great until you need them for something and then they tighten the purse strings. Sorry; this is a real nightmare for ya, I'm sure.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. How does that even work? You have insurance to protect you, but the insurance company finds that he is faking, so he comes after you anyway? That doesn't seem legal.

The attorney I have was hired & is being paid for by my auto insurance company. I have no issues with them denying his claim, I am just pissed that this ass is doing this. That the court has allowed it to drag on for so **** ass long. I mean really... the accident happened 4 years.

What is mildly amusing about this, is what my attorney told me before my depo a year ago. This guy is not working, he is collecting disability from his employer for are you read for this... STRESS!!! He was an installer for the phone company... that sounds like such a stressful job! To me that screams shyster who is only looking for money!

For every A-hole, there is an A-hole lawyer taking the case. This guy is looking to make some money and is pissed the insurance company didn't settle. You might be sick of it and want it to go away , but do not let this guy win! every time one of these pond scum sucking losers gets a few bucks it just invites more frivolous lawsuits from other scumbags.

Sounds like he is trying to get all he can before the statue of limitations runs out.
My thoughts, too - the statute of limitations must be up soon so he's making a last-ditch effort to see what he can squeeze out of you.

I'm sorry. It sounds like he is looking to make some money for non-existant "injuries." What is a shame is the lawyers who take these cases just to make money.

Disgusting, obviously "All-state-itis" lives. Something has to be done about insurance claim fraud and the laws that allow this to continue to go on. Ugh, what a nightmare.

Technically the statute of limitations on this was up at the 2 year mark (February 2007). As long as he filed the complaint (which he did) before that 2 years expired, he was allowed to pursue this assinine claim.

I am thrilled that my insurance company is telling this ass to go pound sand, but I am frustrated as hell it has drug on this long. I hope the aribitrators give him nothing, it would serve him right!
