Sorry if I'm asking something that could be answered by a search, but I am in a bit of a time crunch as DH wants to get Rogie some new food tonight. Here's the story, yesterday we returned from Hawaii and realized that Natural Balance has recalled its venison and rice products. Rogie eats their Potato and Duck food. DH thinks we should switch because he is nervous that in a week or two they will pull all of their products and here we will have been feeding Rogie this food (also, Rogie just threw up and that made DH nervous). The question is, assuming we switch, what do we go to? We are thinking EVO -- either large bites or small bites red meat. We like the idea of a grain free food as Rogie has allergies. Thoughts??????? We just want the best for Rogie. Thx.

I feed my puppy Innova

They talk about the recall on their home page.
Not all Naural Balance Foods were involved in the recall. They did not use the rice protein in other foods.

Thanks. We are worried about the "what's next." I also don't like the statement on the website that says something to the effect that they never thought this could happen in this day and age. They are making food that dogs and cats are eating, it's their job to think ahead and anticipate the worst. DH has set off to buy a small bag of EVO. His worrying made me worry since I am the one that usually panics and overreacts.
I was in the same position as you about a week ago when this first happened. Elias is also on the duck and potato formula and out cats eat NB too.
I was "this close" to switching but I decided against it. NB seemed to make it clear that it was ONLY the venison formulas.
A week later everything is fine here and they are still eating NB

I can't comment on the recall, but I can say that I feed EVO large bites and my dogs are thriving on it, and they love the taste, too. My 6 yr old, Jacob, started acting like a puppy again when we made the switch. There is quite a bit about EVO in the raw and natural foods section here at JL, if you want to read more about ppl's experiences with it.

Thanks. DH came home with a small bag of it to try.
If EVO doesn't work for you, EaglePack makes great foods. Larry is on the Holistic Selects Lamb and Rice and is doing wonderfully.

Thx. We had switched from Eagle to the Natural Balance because Rogie's ears were still dirty on the Eagle. I wonder if we are overreacting by taking him off the Natural Balance.
