My stepdad passed away last night. Just like that...he's gone.

He had a heart attack on Saturday afternoon. They did surgery and he was in stable condition. Last night they called my mom at about 10:00pm and told her she needed to come back to the hospital. He had gone into cardiac arrest and they weren't able to save him. My mom didn't get there in time.

They were together for 21 years.

I've only had 2 1/2 hours sleep and I think I'm still in shock.

Interestingly, Snicks is the least affectionate dog in the universe - yet she was stuck to my side like glue the entire night last night.

I am so sorry to hear this. Sometimes I wonder if losing someone that quick is a God send or unfair. I didn't get to say good-bye to my grandfather. He was healthy as a horse, had a girlfriend, took walks daily. He had a stroke while walking by himself in his favorite park and that was it... I was so angry that I didn't get to say good-bye; but, yet, I know he didn't suffer. Either way :-[
