The intruder walked straight into the house and Amber went after him She went low and grabbed at his ankle but only succeded in getting his jeans. This resulted in a minor tear of the jeans and a very startled yell by the intruder. At which point Amber suddenly realized who the intruder was and resumed the attack but with wet slobbery kisses this time. Who you ask was this intruder? It was simply me returning from getting my hair cut after it had grown out for 10 months. I very golad I have quick reflexes and that she missed my leg. The jeans are a loss and Amber was very very embarassed as soon as she realized who I was. (I wonder if she thought I was a Ground Troll) She has been walking around watching me with a very puzzled expression since then though.

Poor Amber! You shouldn't startle her like that! Next time, she should go for the seat of the pants instead of the ankle. ;)

BTW - that happened to my sister when I was a kid. We had a German Shepherd and my sister came home one night in a new coat with a raccoon fur collar. In the dim light the dog saw a strange sillouhette, smelled an strange animal, and went ballistic. Luckily my sister got the light turned on and spoke to the dog before she got bit.

At least Amber attacked the "strange" intruder. Last December a real intruder kicked in our back door after we had gone to bed. It set off the loud alarm horn and I jumped out of bed and went hollering through the house toward the back door thinking I had two snarling barking dogs backing me up. NOT.
They were both hiding in the bedroom. Luckily the alarm scared off the intruder.
Amber is a much braver dog compared to my two wimps.:)

Solution is easy: Remove pants before entering home.

Too funny!

About 7 tears ago there was somebody down by the road and my front pasture, obviously looking for something with flashlights. Apparently the neighbors called the police, and everything checked out. But while Belle and I were outside, about halfway down the driveway (1,000 foot driveway) Belle was barking at the people at the road. I have no outside lights so it was total darkness.

As we were standing there, all of a sudden Belle whipped around and went ballistic at something behind us (between the house and where we were). She barked ferociously and then ran behind me and slunk down. I never knew what she was barking at but it sure scared the crap out of me...picturing some psycho killer that those people were looking for behind me!

Belle's take on it? "I warned you that there is something behind us mom, now it is your job to protect ME!"
