It's true, they are bottom feeders. I try not to think about that too much though. Their spetacular deliciousness makes up for that unpleasant fact =)

Just the name, "bottom feeders"... *shudder*

Tidbit, back in 1998 when Swissair flight 111 went down in the Atlantic here in St. Margaret's Bay (a fishing community), all 229 souls on board were lost. The plane just disintegrated on impact. It was a horrible tragedy. I refused to eat any lobster from our waters for the longest time, I would only buy ones that were from PEI or New Brunswick.

EWW EWW EWW~!!!
I know. Some people didn't seem to be bothered buying the local lobster. No one fished them for awhile, obviously. To be honest, they probably couldn't fish at all, the whole community was just numb, and many of the fishermen manned their boats that night to help with the rescue effort, but once they got out into the middle of the wreckage they knew it was recovery , not a rescue=(. That changed those poeople, and the community. I have a good friend who went out in his boat that night, recovering... debris. So tragic.

It was years before I'd eat a local lobster. That played on my mind for a very long time.

I don't like lobster. I do like crayfish but they are too much trouble to eat. I'll stick with raising red cherry shrimp just for fun in the aquarium. My bigger fish love to eat them. Bottom feeders, nom nom nom.

At leaste lobsters don't have a scum coat on them like catfish and many other bottom feeders. The scum on catfish is so thick and slimey its like the catfish has snot on it.
you make is sound so appetizing!! I remember fishing for catfish in Georgia, one of the nastiest memories I have. That is a bottom feeder you can keep!

When my dad was stationed in Stephenville Newfoundland my great grandfather loaded his fishing trawler with a dory and lobster pots and dropped them off for my dad. I remember going fishing to catch flounder to bait the pots with. In fact I didn't realize flounder were edible until I was 12. Dad and a my cousin's husband who was also stationed there use to rotate pulling the pots. Plenty of lobsters as the area they fished was part of the base. We gave away so many lobsters.

Enjoy your lobster...they are probably the thing I miss the most living in AZ I just cannot bring myself to pay $12 a pound for them.
