I'm new on this website and also a new labrador owner. I need some help please.
My puppy is now 4 1/2 months and has started smelling very unpleasantly. I wash him once every 2 weeks and he hasn't smelt like this before. I washed him yesterday and this morning he stunk.
Simples ! Don't wash him ! Labradors seldom need baths ! You are exacerbating the situation with all the baths and could end up with skin issues if you continue !
On the other hand if you don't like doggy smells then there is a problem Houston !
Labs usually don't stink and they usually don't need to be bathed so I would think something is wrong.
Can you tell where the smell is coming from? Yeast infections are really stinky and can be just about anywhere but I know ears are a common place. One of my dogs had a yeast infection under his collar once.
If it has a fishy odor it could be his anal glands.
If your pup is stinky enough to need baths and hasn't rolled in anything he needs to be checked out so you can fix whatever is causing the odor.
