As we left the DP yesterday, HK makes her big circle around a field outside the gate on her way to the car.

As she stops obviously looking at or smelling something, I say 'Whatchya got Hershey?

Then she jumps backwards fully alert and moves forward again, only to jump backward once again.

'Did you find yourself a snake?' as I walk towards her. The action repeats a couple times as I approach and see........Mrs. Box Turtle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There she is digging her hole to lay her eggs. Had to drag HK away. She was really focused on the turtle. Glad it wasn't a Snapper, that could have gotten nasty.

That's pretty neat to see those turtles laying eggs like that, HK just wanted to make sure you didn't miss the opportunity to check her out!

Eek. We have snapping turtles around here, in the pond/marsh behind my apartment and I'm always very cautious as the females are out finding a spot to lay their eggs.
