Loved the book. Marley sounds like he was a real joy (and a real pain in the arse) ... such a love!
However, that's not the point of this post. Do you think because of the book/movie the popularity of labs is going to increase? I worry that we're going to end up with an epidemic of everyone and their cousin having a lab just because they thought Marley was cute. I love labs and think that they're suited for a lot of people, but I also think they're NOT suited for many people. I worry many of these puppies are going to not get the care they require and will end up in shelters and lab rescues (like what happened with Dalmations after the movie 101 Dalmations came out - my sister has a Dalmation rescue ... the man who bought the pup decided when she was 5 months old he didn't want to keep her ... my sister and her dh found out about it before the guy took the pup to the shelter and said "well take her!").
Do you think these concerns are justified or do you think it'll pass because labs are so popular anyway?
