WTF is up with this show??

Really.

I am so muddled right now with the time-reversals etc. that I'm getting frustrated w/the whole deal. You're dangerously close to being Hero-ed right out of my TiVo schedule, Lost. Just warning....

In actuality, I cannot even begin to recap this mess, as I have no real idea what's going on.

We open w/a child version of Sayid, who takes the term 'choke the chicken' very literally, much to the glee of his pop.

Island 1977 - YoungBen brings Sayid a sammy. And a book. Whose significance is supposed to be obvious, I suppose, but like a lot of this episode, it goes right over my head.

Moscow in the year whatever - Sayid offs a Russki who tries to buy his way toward mercy. And receives none. Ben congratulates him for offing the last of the Widmore Gang.

Island 1977 - Juliet's miffed that Kate's back. Sawyer must protect Sayid but is having an increasingly difficult time of it, as Rydsinski and Horace want to kill him for being a hostile.

In other flashbacks, we see Sayid get captured by the chick on the plane.

And back in 1977, he's interrogated. When he tells the truth about how he got there -- time travel -- the Dharmites are understandably skeptical.

Sawyer gives Sayid a chance to escape, but he declines.

But later decides to take Ben up on his offer to open the door. They go off into the jungle, are caught by Jin, whom Sayid cold-cocks.

And then shoots Ben.

WHA?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

When Sayid told Sawyer "I know why I'm here", Sawyer thought he meant he was accepting his fate of getting killed by the Dharma people. What Sayid meant was that he believed he was brought there to get rid of young Ben. To stop the cycle.

As soon as Sayid shot Ben, I told Jason 'I wonder if Ben in 2008 on the island is fading away like Marty in Back to the Future.' =)

Thought the same exact thing. So is Ben, Aka Benry, now non-Ben? And if so, does that undo everything he's done? In other words, is Locke now alive?

This show is giving me a headache.
good points here.....my husband thought he shot young Ben so he wouldn't run into older Ben since they are both on the island at the same time.
They're not on the island together right now. Ben is still in our present day. He didn't zap back like Sayid, Jack, Kate & Hurley.

I think Ben is still in the future. Shooting young Ben now doesn't change the fact that the things old Ben did have already happened in the lives of Sayid, Jack, et al. I don't know. I'm not up on my time travel. Also, remember Sawyer said that Faraday had opinions on what they could or couldn't change no matter what they did.

Locke is alive. Remember when we last saw him with with the other survivors of the crash on the beach he told them that he remembered dying.
But I thought that was because he (Locke) travelled back in time to the WHEN in which he hadn't been killed yet.

Did I just type that??

From the ew.com Lost guy:

I find that “He’s Our You” is filled with implications within implications that aren't easy to parse. I mean that in a good way.

For example, if the past can’t be changed, then that means that Sayid’s assassination attempt on Young Ben has always been part of Adult Ben’s life experience. Which means that while Ben was cultivating off-Island Sayid into a vengeance-crazed killer — and knowingly encouraging Sayid’s homicidal resentment toward him — he did so knowing that one day, Sayid was going to travel back in time and then try to kill him. So does that mean that Ben was complicit in Sayid’s attack on his life? Does that mean that Ben actually wanted Sayid to try and murder him? And what if we're wrong and the past is open to revision? And what if Ben knew that, too?
And from a commenter there:
An ontological paradox is a paradox of time travel that questions the existence and creation of information and objects that travel in time. It is very closely related to the predestination paradox and usually occurs at the same time.

Because of the possibility of influencing the past while time traveling, one way of explaining why history does not change is by saying that whatever has happened was meant to happen. A time traveler attempting to alter the past in this model, intentionally or not, would only be fulfilling his role in creating history, not changing it. The Novikov self-consistency principle proposes that contradictory causal loops cannot form, but that consistent ones can.

THis is what Lost is doing, and what ever happened happened is a episode title for this season.
But I thought that was because he (Locke) travelled back in time to the WHEN in which he hadn't been killed yet.

I was under the impression that the people still with the plane did not time travel. That the island resurrected Locke.

My impression too.

I'm going with the theory that Sayid was supposed to shoot child Ben (but I'm guessing not kill) and adult Ben has known this all along.

No, they are still in present day. Remember when Sun and Frank went to other island and Christian said they have quite a journey ahead of them? I am guess Craphole Island is in the past but the island they crashed on is in the present. Now my head hurts.
Fascinating.

And fully stuffed with too many multi-syllabic words.

That still leave me in the dark.

McFly!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel like I'm doing LSD again when I watch this show lately.

I hadn't thought about that. Sounds reasonable, contrary to everything else on this show.
I don't watch Lost. I tried, but inless you have seen it from the very beginning, it's impossible to follow.
It's impossible to follow and I HAVE watched it from the beginning. My SIL has been watching it with me this season. He'll ask a question about what's going on and all I'll say is "I don't know" or "I haven't got a clue". He said he thought I'd watched it from the beginning. I said, I have. Sure doesn't mean I know what's going on. LOL

I'd say DITTO if it weren't dis-allowed on the board!
WOW!! I just watched LOST. Amazing...so I think Sayid did not kill Ben but thinks he did. Where is Faraday?! Why haven't they talked to him about theories how to get back to their time.
