We learn Miles' cool backstory. He's been seeing dead people since he was a kid. On her deathbed, Mom tells Miles that his pop walked out on them and is dead.
Miles isn't above using his gift to line his pockets. We see him scam a grieving father.
And eventually, his rep brings Naomi and her crew to seek out his abilities. After an unusual audition (he hears a dead guy describe empty graves and a purchased phony Oceanic plane), she offers him $1.6 mil to come to the island. He then gets a counter-offer of double that to stay away. Who this is from isn't exactly clear.
Back on Craphole, Kate/Sawyer return from their little errand of delivering Ben. Sawyer asks Mikes to conveniently misplace the surveillance tapes, but mid-favor, Horace enters and sends Miles on a package-delivery mission.
Package is a body bag. Which he then has to take to P.F. Chang. Aka Marvin Candle from the creepy Dharmafilms. Miles asks the corpse WHAZZUP, and he learns that one of the guy's fillings got zipped out of his mouth through his brain, leaving a nasty-looking exit wound. Major magnetic mojo going on there, I'll bet. Hurley's along for the ride and is eventually clued into everything but sworn to secrecy.
Back at Udderville, BenPop is in a dither because his boy is gone. Juliet plays dumb. Kate, unfortunaltey, plays sympathetic and raises suspicions that she was somehow involved.
Oh, and Miles tells us that Chang is his dad. We see him reading (a polar bear book - hah!) when Miles is a toddler.
Sawyer's cover is blown when one of his toadies finds the not-ditched security tape. He fixes this little leak by cold-cocking Mr RedShirt and asking Juliet for some rope.
One more errand for Miles: go pick up newbies at the sub port.
Off steps..... ta-da! Daniel Faraday.
