Well....just to keep Moka stable and pain free last night was $900. The surgery today is $3100, that includes the surgery, the pain meds, the antibiotic..all that stuff. It does not include any after care. She needs to have x-rays weekly, have the bandages changed and will have another mini-surgery to have the external fixtures and plates removed. They have estimated that to be another $1000. So in total....about $5000 in vet bills for this incident.
I am all in for this.
I am so sorry this happened. I saw this thread and didn't know what was going on, so I went back and caught up on the other threads.
I am especially touched by this, because it reminds me of Crash, our first dog. He broke his leg in a similar way, sort of...
It was early in our marriage, we didn't have a fence or a lot of money, so we thought we would try putting him outside on a tie-out. I was in the front yard, Crash was in the back on the tie-out, and I heard screaming. At first I didn't know what the heck it was or where it was coming from. Then I realized it was coming from our backyard. Then I realized it was Crash. Oh Lord. I raced to the back to find him dangling one of his back legs. Poor sweet Crash - he was only four months old. Apparently he had gotten the lead tangled around one of his back legs and tried to run.
We rushed him to the vet, the vet set it and kept him overnight and he was just fine. I suppose his was a cleaner break than Moka had, and his wasn't broken with the force hers was.
Anyway - in memory of my sweetest boy Crash, count me in. Just let me know where I can send something.
Thank you Sarah and Milly...you have no idea what your gift means to us, in so many ways. I am so deeply grateful. **tears**Gina,
I have sent you something small from Milly and I in Australia to help Moka. It's not alot and I am sorry, I hope it helps though.
Please give Moka a big hug and kiss from us all when you get her home xx
