Kittens!

We are getting some kittens in today to foster. Woman called the rescue I work with this morning and said she has a nice mama cat and kittens that she won't keep another day and will toss them outside - it's supposed to rain and sleet all week - nice. So I'm leaving in an hour to go pick them all up. Mama will go to another foster to be spayed and kittens will stay with us - they are about 5 weeks old and I don't even know how many there are! I hung up and thought "Oh my what if there are like 10 kittens!!!!" We shall see.....................

I'll never forget one day I was working as a vet tech during the summer between my junior and senior year in college. I frequently brought home "surprises" that my mother never turned away. One day I couldn't let two litters be put down at the kill shelter. I came home with 14 kittens that were about 6 weeks old. I sat in my car thinking of how to break the news to my unsuspecting mother and then I just thought honesty was the best policy. I walked in and sat down at the kitchen table and said "I think there is something wrong with me." She sat next to me and later said she was so concerned in that moment not knowing what was going on. I looked up and said "I have 14 kittens in my car right now." She was so relieved that she hugged me and couldn't be angry!
