I wanted to what people may be doing to discourage jumping. Judy can sit and down on command and pretty much house broken at 14 weeks.

However, the jumping is becoming an issue. I have been using the command "off" and pushing her down. She jumps up on me when I am sitting or standing....it is so cute now ...but, I need to work to break her from it. I try to ignore her ...but, that is not working either.

We start puppy training next week.....but, any advice now would be great.

Everyone in the house and outside of the house has to cooperate. As soon as she appears to be thinking of jumping, or jumps, turn your back and ignore. AND IGNORE! No cute puppy voices. If everyone cooperates, you should have this beat in less than a week. Some dogs get it right away.

Since Judy knows "sit"
that will be her command.

Like HK said, you need to anticipate the jump and then tell her "sit"
if she sits, she gets a reward.

You may also want to put a toy in her mouth when she's ready to jump.

You can do the ignore also.

Good luck. Zoe was a jumper. Our behavorist said, "Zoe has 2 options,
(1) sit, or (2) sit." Best advice we got.

Abbey is almost 2 and we're still trying to kick the habit. It's sooo hard with some dogs.

What works, mostly, is if she jumps, I push her off with my KNEE. No hand touching to push her off because she wants that contact. Tell her "off" as she's doing it. If she sits and is good, then pet her. If she keeps trying to jump, turn around and ignore her completely.

Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat.

First thing first .. forcing a dog in a position YOU want, isnt going to work!

She does now perfectly how to sit, and how to lay down (trust me, dogs now that from the first day, they are born) ;)

We people are just inpatience to couple a word on to the action: "sit".

So, dont force her to sit or lay down, it doesnt solve any problems at a long periode ;)

Oke, she's a cute little jumper .. Well, that's basicly the simplest thing to teach them NOT to do .. Evry time she jumps up, put youre knee out towards her (dont need to punch her in the chest!). So you can direct her in the way or direction you want her ;)

Dogs learn by expierence and by on how many times they are sucesfull ;)

They key in jumping up, is letting the dog be unsucsesfull ..
