I think Judy has cold tail. She seems to be in pain with sudden moves, getting up from a lying position, jumping off the bed. Just touching the base of her tail makes her cry. She cries if another dog just brushes against her tail. She holds it like the picture in the Woodhaven article, but it does wag a bit whenever I talk to her. She was not swimming or did not have any accident or injury that I know of. She eats and does regular potty. It seemed to come on suddenly when she got up from a rest last night. I gave her an aspitrin and am keeping her warm, will call the vet when they open. Is there anything else I can do for her? It is breaking my heart whenever she cries. Is there anything else I can do for her?

I would just use warm compresses at the base of her tail. It should resolve in 2 to 3 days on it's own.
