It's been on the cool side - bring sweatshirts/jackets for layering. It's supposed to be a little warmer this weekend. But you will get to experience the weather condition that we call "May gray", which is followed by "June Gloom". It should be sunny by mid day. I recommend the zoo and Balboa Park for daytime fun and the Gaslamp Quarter for nighttime fun. If you're in the downtown area, head over to Little Italy for lunch. My favorite restaurants are Trattoria Fantastica on India Street (a little pricey though) or my absolute favorite hole in the wall, Mexican Fiesta (on India between Ash and Beech Streets). Don't let the building fool you - order the Carne Asada tacos or burritos (portions are huge) then take them over to the benches on the corner of Beech and India in front of the multicolored condo building. You will be able to eat lunch for less than $5. Another good choice would be to go to the outside patio at Georges at the Cove in La Jolla. Remember - outside ($10 range) not inside ($50 range). Try the fish tacos. The view is stunning.
