Dropped Simba off this morning for her ACL surgery and as they were taking her back, tears were running down my face and then she tried to get away from them to come back to her mom.

I brought her baby and blanket for her too. DH thought I was crazy, but the vet techs said a lot of people do that.

It's going to be a long day until I hear from them that the surgery is complete and was successful.

UPDATE - Vet just called, surgery went good and she is starting to wake up and she MUST lose weight! I'm going to stop and see her on my way home tonite. Whew...it has been a LONG day waiting for this call. I know it's routine surgery, but still...

Good thoughts for Simba. I totally understand. Whenever I have had to drop off an animal for surgery, I have to have someone there to drag me out of the office (usually sniveling at the same time!)

Glad to hear the surgery went well. I cried when CJ had to go in to have granuloma removed from his tongue... so I think your emotions and reaction are completly justifed and not at all out of line!

When i walked in a couple of days after koda's surgery, I was blown over by the howling fit she launched herself into when she heard me talking to the vet tech in the lobby.. NOBODY in the waiting room could hear a word anyone was saying.. there were other people in there laughing hysterically at the racket...

I've never been more touched.. dawww.. my girl misses me! =)

If you want to check out our journey on the second ligament repair.. i have a blog for koda going here..

Went to see Simba after work, lol. The dr. went in first and she looked at him and then she looked at me and it took her a sec as she was still coming out of the anethesia, but the minute she recognized me, she turned her head immediately the other way. She is mad, OMG. LMAO...never seen a dog do that so defiantely before.

I got down on the floor with her and started petting her and rubbing her belly and she would not look at me for about 15 mins. She would doze and wake up and see that I was still there and go back to sleep for a bit. Couple of times she woke and made sure I was there and I started talking to her and she would look the other way again, reminding me that she's mad at me!

Kelli, Koda's picture of her knee is the same as Simba's! Vet said that she has 4 layers of stitches. Whole back left qtr is shaved as well as around her neck for the pain patch.

She gets to come home tomorrow and all I can say, it's going to be an interesting 6-8 wks. if she stays mad. Hopefully once she gets home she won't be so mad at mom.
