Ok, it wasn't really an award, but extra kudos for anybody who got the Christmas Story reference. Actually it was a jackpot.
Husband's away on business, so instead of sitting around on my ass last night avoiding everything I should be doing, I grabbed the food money and headed for our local indian casino.
Played blackjack for an hour and couldn't get anything going so I switched to video poker. Two hands in, up popped the Royal Flush. $5200 !!! Holy Crap!
I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Big bells ringing, lights flashing, everybody staring at me.
First thing they do is make you sign a tax form so Uncle Sam gets his share, and then I thought they were going to write me a check for an amount that big, but all they did was stand there and count out a huge pile of $100 bills. They had a security guard walk me to my car since everybody in the place knew I was a woman alone carrying a huge wad of cash.
What sucked was that I was all excited and it was too late when I got home to call my husband, so I sat around the house wired and excited all by myself. Still, $5200 is going to look pretty good in the Send Chris and Robin To Hawaii Fund.
Like all gamblers, I'm now fighting the impulse to go back today and give some of it back.
